Meet The Vet
Dr. McCoy
Dr. Naree’ McCoy was born and raised in the famous MotorCity, Detroit, Michigan. From a very young age, she exhibited a sincere passion for animals and developed a very strong love for horses in general. In high school, she became a part of a 4H-Program, where she took lessons and was able to compete in equine showmanship, trail equitation, and more. During her college years, she saved up and bought her first horse, a 3yr Appendix Quarter Horse, she affectionately re-named Passion. She attended thee illustrious Tuskegee University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal, Poultry, and Veterinary Sciences in 2013. She decided to remain at Tuskegee and went on to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2017.
Soon after graduation, Dr. McCoy began working under the great and late, Dr. Wendell C. Baker (‘74 Tuskegee Vet Med grad) in Waller, Texas after she previously completed an externship with him back in 2016. Baker Veterinary Clinic is where she gained invaluable experience and friendships in the mixed animal field. After Dr. Baker’s passing in 2021, Dr. McCoy went on to start her own mixed animal practice, Golden Legacy Veterinary Clinic, serving former clients and surrounding areas of Houston, TX in hopes to continue on his legacy, all while starting her own. Although GLVC is currently mobile only, Dr. McCoy is determined to expand to a brick and mortar in the very near future—stay tuned.
Her current interests include: surgeries (especially canine c-sections), reproduction, acupuncture, neonatal medicine and preventative medicine.

In her continued quest for giving back to the profession and community, Dr. McCoy continues to mentor pre-vet/veterinary students from different colleges, with a special appreciation to Prairie View A&M students both former and new, as well as hosting low-cost vaccination clinics whenever possible.
When she’s away from the rigors of practicing vet med, Dr. McCoy enjoys horseback riding, fishing, traveling, beach-bumming, baking, sharing gut-busting laughs with family and friends and just simply spending quality time with her horses; Titan, Drake, and Crescendo and her dog, Nevaeh.
